BYD & DJI Unveil “Spirit Iris” In-Car Drone System, Redefining Smart Travel
On March 2, 2025, BYD and DJI held a joint press conference in Shenzhen to introduce the groundbreaking “Spirit Iris” Smart In-Car Drone System. With this launch, BYD becomes the first automaker in the world to mass-produce an in-car drone system.

The Lingyuan system consists of a drone, an in-car drone compartment, and an integrated software suite. On the hardware side, it features the world’s first retractable in-car landing platform, a high-precision drone positioning module, a 4K ultra-HD rooftop camera, and a custom dual-mode controller. The software suite includes the Lingyuan App, AI-powered interactive software, and image & music editing tools. The system supports dynamic takeoff and landing, one-touch return, intelligent follow mode, obstacle avoidance, and fast-charging storage. Additionally, it offers 30 pre-set shooting templates and smart algorithms, allowing users to create stunning videos with minimal effort.
During the launch event, the first model to feature the Lingyuan Fast-Charge Edition, the Bao 8 Drone Edition, was officially released, with a price range of ¥395,800 – ¥423,800. The Lingyuan system is available as an optional upgrade for ¥16,000. Besides the Bao 8, the system will also be introduced in models like the Denza N9, Tang L, Sealion 07, Bao 5, and Titanium 3.

BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu emphasized that the collaboration between BYD and DJI has led to a deep integration of automotive and drone technologies. DJI President Luo Zhenhua also noted that technology should be a tool for universal benefit, and this partnership marks a new milestone in the evolution of smart travel ecosystems.
