Xpeng’s Flying Car : Take Flight Under 2 Million Yuan!

On September 3rd, at the Xpeng AeroHT “ARIDGE” flying car advanced tasting event, Zhao Deli, the founder and president of Xpeng AeroHT, introduced that the new product, dubbed the “ARIDGE” will gradually “land” on the market. It is scheduled to make its maiden manned flight at the Zhuhai Airshow in November, make its first public appearance at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November, start pre-sales by the end of 2024, and achieve mass production and delivery by 2026. Zhao Deli revealed that the price of the “ARIDGE” will not exceed 2 million yuan. The idea of purchasing a flying car for less than 2 million yuan is set to become a reality by 2026.

Xpeng AeroHT officially showcased the split-type flying car “ARIDGE,” which consists of a land-traveling body and a flying body. The mother ship part adopts a three-axis six-wheel design, supporting all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering. The vehicle is approximately 5.5 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 2 meters high, allowing it to fit into standard parking spaces, and can be driven with a regular Class C driver’s license. It is equipped with an 800-volt extended-range platform, offering a comprehensive range of 1,000 kilometers, and supports six flights with a full charge and fuel.

The flying body can automatically separate from the mother ship and fold its structure automatically upon landing, completing precise docking and loading. The flying body provides a dual-seat layout, using a six-axis six-propeller dual-ring design, with the main structure and propellers made of carbon fiber materials. It supports both manual and automatic driving modes, equipped with a single-stick flight control system that allows for one-key takeoff and landing, and automatic route planning.

Xpeng AeroHT stated that the flying body part adopts a redundant backup system with two sets of systems and will invest in over 200 test machines for various environmental and unit safety tests. Zhao Deli, the founder and president of Xpeng AeroHT, mentioned that the “ARIDGE” will be mass-produced and delivered by 2026 at a price not exceeding 2 million yuan. Currently, more than 70 flight camps have been signed, with plans to reach 200 by the end of next year, providing users in core cities with the experience of being able to fly within a 30-minute drive.
